Latitude 10 Resort was built as a private resort and is now available to the public. As the winner of the 2008 Grand Award in the International Class for second homes, the resort leaves nothing to be desired in luxury and elegance in its natural setting, providing interaction with the jungle and it’s beachfront location.

The resort consists of five spacious free standing, individually decorated and private casitas. Each casita has its own tropical décor, situated on over seven acres of private beachfront property located near the bustling beach town of Santa Teresa on the Southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica.

Staying at Latitude 10 is like staying with good friends at their luxury beach house. You will experience personalized service and attention to detail in a relaxed, yet classy atmosphere. Breakfast and pre-dinner hors d’oeuvres are included in your rate as well as your private in room mini bar. For lunch and dinner, Santa Teresa provides probably some of the best cuisine in Costa Rica and we will be happy to suggest a restaurant to your liking just a few minutes from the resort.

Tucked amongst the native vegetation, lie Latitude 10’s five casitas. Each private bungalow is uniquely and luxuriously appointed, with its own personality and vibe.

The private casitas are constructed from almond wood and decorated with local art and handiwork. You might find an easel with a painting propped in the corner, or a coconut broken in half and filled with sand and tea lights, or a ladder made with bamboo set against the bathroom wall. Each room has its own treasures for you to discover and enjoy.

The casitas were designed and built by a local architect without any trees being cut down. The wooden structures have shades but no windows and there are no locks on the doors. The bathrooms are completely open-air with large hot water showers and gardens. It is more than a lovely room, it is a structure enabling you to sleep and reside completely in harmony with nature.

Porches with cozy chairs and hammocks, ceiling fans, safe deposit boxes, and a twice-daily housekeeping service add to your comfort. In the evening, we will pull down the shades, light candles, burn incense, and dim the lights. Our turndown service paired with the sounds of nature provides a very tranquil and very Costa Rican experience.

Junior Suite

We offer two Junior Suites, each with a unique décor that gives it a special personality. Whether tropical, arabesque, classical or eclectic, each suite offers genuine comfort in the remoteness of this paradise. Both of our Junior Suites are equipped with a queen sized beds.

Premium Junior Suite

Charming and secluded, our Premium Junior Suite is surrounded by tropical gardens and offers the same commodities as the Junior Suites but with a King sized bed.

Master Suite

Our two Master Suites are spacious and comfortable, accommodating from one to tree people. The sleeping quarters are integrated with a lounge area and table setting for four. Both have ocean view and large front porches where you may relax and watch beautiful Santa Teresa sunsets.

The clubhouse lies at the heart of the property surrounded by native tropical vegetation and stunning ocean views. The open-air ranchito is the center of activity, home to the pristine chemical free infinity pool and over 100 meters of private white sand beach. In addition to a spacious and comfortable restaurant and lounging area, you will find the reception office, exquisite bar, state of the art kitchen available for guest or personal chef use in case you book the entire resort, and staff members happy to help make every detail of your stay perfect.

We invite you to pull up a chair at the bar and enjoy a freshly prepared breakfast while listening to the waves rolling in. After a great day why not watch the sunset from the pool with a drink in your hand? Or perhaps you would like to play a game of chess and then curl up on the couch with a book. Good conversation and community awaits you at the clubhouse. Please note, that while we don´t offer a full restaurant service at Latitude 10, there are some of the best restaurants in Costa Rica just minutes away and we would be happy to arrange reservations for you.

Our intricate network of stone walkways carves paths from the clubhouse through the still wild ecosystem leading you to your private and secluded bungalow. Come and go as you like but please, make yourself at home.

Beaches that received a score of 90% or greater Bandera received an Azul Ecológica (ecological blue flag) to fly as a symbol of excellence. The Malpais/Santa Teresa area beaches have proudly flown the blue flag since 2001.

Conde Nast World Savers Award

The winners of the  awards have to meet exacting standards and have to give detailed responses to more than 20 questions.  Expert judges (academics, CEOs, philanthropists) and passionate Condé Nast Traveler editors pick the honorees in five categories: education, environmental and/or cultural preservation, health, poverty relief, and wildlife conservation. We also recognized companies with achievements in all five areas.

Methodology

Eight industry sectors can enter: small hotel chains (fewer than 20 properties), large hotel chains, city hotels, small resorts (fewer than 50 rooms), large resorts, tour operators, cruise lines, and airlines. All are assessed on how they exhibit social responsibility in five areas: Education Programs, Health Initiatives, Poverty Relief, Preservation (Environmental/Cultural), and Wildlife Conservation. Using the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria, the editors chose 60 finalists. The judges then evaluate the finalists (no judge scored applicants in his or her own industry). We also looked at overall scores to give credit to companies with many world–saving programs.
